The U.S. Small Business Administration [SBA] offers several financing programs designed to help eligible U.S. small businesses develop export markets, support export sales, and strengthen their international competitiveness. Current SBA export-related programs include Export Express, Export Working Capital, Working Capital Pilot [WCP], and International Trade loans.
Export Express
SBA Export Express is designed for eligible small businesses that want to develop or expand the export side of their business. Participating Export Express lenders generally use delegated underwriting procedures, which can streamline lender processing.
Maximum Loan Amount
Up to $500,000.
Export Express may be structured as a term loan or revolving line of credit, depending on the borrowerโs needs and participating lender requirements. Revolving lines of credit may have terms of up to seven years.
Potential Uses
Depending on the transaction and lender underwriting, Export Express financing may support eligible export-related business purposes such as:
- Developing or expanding export activities
- Financing export-related working capital
- Supporting export orders or contracts
- Purchasing equipment or supplies related to export growth
- Marketing and business-development activities associated with entering or expanding international markets
- Other eligible business purposes that support the companyโs export operations
The SBA guaranty is generally up to 90% for loans of $350,000 or less and 75% for loans above $350,000 up to $500,000. Credit decisions are made by the participating lender.
